In the matter regarding employee Supramanien Arul Raj of Tamak Textiles, the Hon. Minister of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Jean-François Chaumière wishes to point out that: as a result of the working session held between officers of the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment and the director and human resource manager of Tamak Textiles, as well as Mr. Supramanien Arul Raj, the latter has been provided with an air ticket to return to his home country on Monday, 11 January 2010.
The issue had been raised over the failure by Mr. Supramanien Arul Raj to promptly present a Medical Certificate to his employees. Mr. Supramanien Arul Raj had however obtained an MC from Dr. A G Jeetoo Hospital, and subsequently handed it to the management of Tamak Textiles Limited. Although declared fit to work, Mr. Supramanien Arul Raj expressed his wish to return to India.
The management of Tamak Textiles Limited agreed, after intervention of the Ministry, to effect payment of the outstanding payment wages of Mr. Supramanien Arul Raj for the period 27 November to 26 December, the refund of 14 annual leaves 2009, the refund of meal allowances from 1st December 2009 to 11 January 2010 and meal allowances for overtime performance. The total amounted to Rs 11 286, paid by cheque. Mr. Supramanien Arul Raj expressed satisfaction of this outcome in writing to the officer of the Ministry.
Documentary evidence of all of the above has been submitted to the Ministry.
