Several ideas were also put forward with respect to hawkers which could be re-settled in the market area, in a space that is currently unused. The municipal officials also announced that upgrading works on the Curepipe Forum would begin in March, including the replacement of various structures (openings, drains etc) as well as the conversion of space available there into an indoor sports area and a commercial market area for non-perishable goods.
Works concerning cleaning of drains, the building of pavements, lanes, footpaths and bus-shelters were also reviewed by the Minister. The Council also informed Hon. Chaumière that the Bigara cemetery would be extended over an area of 5 arpents of land.
The projects are jointly funded by the MCC, the Local Infrastructure Fund and funds made available under the Additional Stimulus Package.
